Project Engineer/Manager - Mechanical

This position is Fort McMurray based working a 5 & 2 schedule (Monday to Friday – 8 hour days) which may vary depending on client requirements.

Keep current with industry practices, technologies, and methodologies

Provide technical direction and collaboration to solve engineering problems

Participate in failure investigations and root cause analysis of discrete events

Create continuous improvement recommendations for asset capability, safety, operability, and risk reduction

Ensure lessons learned are shared and incorporated in designs and practices

Review and approve technical decisions or deviations to client specifications

Provide support to projects on the selection of appropriate technologies, equipment, tools, materials and systems

Run, track, and report on real-time project status, estimating, scheduling, and risk management

Manage and perform technical reviews and evaluations of engineered drawings, reports, proposals, and equipment design and specification with integrity

Manage project procurement of company goods and services, working with supply chain management (SCM) and support groups

Manage multi-disciplinary expense and capital projects from inception through commissioning and handover to operations

Co-ordinate and liaise with internal and external groups including operations, maintenance, and technical; coordinate project execution with general contractor multi-functional teams

Perform field reviews and site meetings during construction

Review and liaise with Execution team in the review of CWP’s for

Minimum Qualifications

5 or more years of experience in an Oil & Gas or Heavy Industrial facility in a Mechanical Project Engineering/Management role

A minimum of 2 years of experience with managing contractors

Technical or Engineering degree or equivalent years of experience in a Project Management role

Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Working knowledge of a gated project model

Familiarity with P&ID's, PFD's, and other Process related documentation

Ability to lead cross functional teams to deliver on improvement projects

Sharp problem solving and analytical skills

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office

An effective communicator with the ability to develop positive working relationships

Previous Oilsands experience in Extraction, E&U or Upgrading is a strong asset
