Project Engineer/Manager - Electrical

This position is Fort McMurray based working a 5 & 2 schedule (Monday to Friday – 8 hour days) which may vary depending on client requirements.

Be current with industry practices, technologies, and methodologies

Define and execute projects using a stage-gate project management model, engage partners, set and manage plans and schedules, while adhering to safety mindset

Ensure design meets company standards and follows defined practices

Manage multi-disciplinary expense and capital projects from inception through commissioning and handover to operations

Manage all technical design documents and drawings with internal and external technical support

Run, track, and report on real-time project status, including project estimating, scheduling, and risk management

Perform technical reviews and evaluations of engineered drawings, reports, proposals, and equipment design and specification with integrity

Manage project procurement of company goods and services, working with supply chain management (SCM) and support groups

Co-ordinate and liaise with internal and external groups including operations, maintenance, and technical; coordinate project execution with general contractor multi-functional teams

Perform field reviews and site meetings during construction

Review and liaise with Execution team in the review of CWP’s for Constructability

Help resolve unforeseen field issues for field coordinators

Minimum Qualifications

5 or more years of experience in an Oil & Gas or Heavy Industrial facility in an Electrical Project Engineering/Management role

A minimum of 2 years of experience with managing projects and contractors

Technical or Engineering degree or equivalent years of experience in a Project Management role

Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Working knowledge of a gated project model

Familiarity with P&ID's, PFD's, and other Process related documentation

Ability to lead cross functional teams to deliver on improvement projects

Sharp problem solving and analytical skills

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office

Strong leadership skills with the ability to keep project schedules on track

An effective communicator with the ability to develop positive working relationships

Previous Oilsands experience in Mining is a strong asset
