Founded by Andy Kyfiuk P.Eng. (B.Sc. Mech. Eng. 1985 UofA) in 1997, Task Engineering Ltd. has provided management services to the Pulp & Paper, Hydro Generation, and Industrial Construction industries in Western Canada since its inception. This service was expanded to the Heavy Oil Industry in Northern Alberta in 2006. We are typically active at three sites simultaneously with present staffing of 20 and see our current growth potential capable of climbing back to 60 – 80 personnel.

We will continue to support the management teams, key stakeholders and facility owners to assist in the organization and practical execution of work. We have the resources to address any organizational requirement associated with an industrial facility.

Our core business is providing management assistance with experienced and stable management people to support our clients’ teams. Typical duties encompass:

  • Configure Asset Management Systems & Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). SAP, Avantis, JDE
  • Specify Material Masters all disciplines and enter/configure in CMMS
  • Bill of Material Development
  • Reliability Program Development(RPD) within a program. Planning for creation of RPD Work Orders and Care Programs
  • Maintenance & Reliability Engineering
  • Project Management for smaller projects, Turnaround’s (TA’s) & Maintenance <$20 Million
  • Planning for all disciplines. Maintenance, Project and Commissioning
  • Field Coordination for TA’s, Maintenance, Projects and Commissioning Activities
  • Site facilities & infrastructure management. Scaffold, Cranes, Rentals, Temp. Facilities, Camps
  • Contracts Administration and Procurement
  • Leadership and Program Development for configuring support departments such as stores, shops, etc.

We provide management services with experienced management personnel who are accustomed to owning facilities and managing work onsite. We have experience dealing with management functions related to industrial facilities because our people typically have management backgrounds, either as the owner of a facility or in a senior managerial role with a contractor/supplier.

Trades, planning, contracts/purchasing and Engineering/drafting backgrounds are common.

Randy began his career in the operations side of the Pulp and Paper industry in Northern Ontario. He moved to the West Coast of BC in 1996 as Assistant Superintendent of MB Pulp mill in Powell River where he met Andy. Randy was the Kraft Mill Operations Manager from 1998 through 2001 when the Kraft Mill was permanently closed. Randy then moved to become the Mechanical Maintenance Manager for the paper machines in Powell River until 2004 when he relocated to Elk Falls as the Mechanical Maintenance Manager for the Kraft & Utilities area. In 2008 he moved back to operations as the Director of Kraft and Utilities. In 2010 Randy travelled to the Crofton mill to help restart the idled Kraft Mill where he worked until 2011 when he joined the Task Engineering Ltd. team. In early 2011 he acted as Commissioning Coordinator on Suncor’s TRO project prior to becoming Business Manager for Task later that year.
